The time for change is now!

The Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) is excited to celebrate International Day of the Midwife (IDM) on May 5, 2021, with the theme "Follow the Data: Invest in Midwives."

  • Evidence showed: investing in midwives saves lives, improves health and strengthens health systems.
  • To achieve our full life-saving, health-improving, system-strengthening potential, midwives must be well educated, adequately trained, and appropriately regulated.
  • Strengthening Midwives are one of the most cost-effective strategies to achieving full sexual and reproductive health coverage for women and all who give birth.
